A great comedian and character actor, this diminutive fellow is a familiar face in chambara films playing con artists and mischief-makers. He also had a lovely singing voice that he put to use in numerous roles. It's a shame he died before the Tora-san series started, because he would have fit right in with the traveling salesman's adventures.
